My Beautiful Son

I watch you playing,
Without a care.
It's hard to believe
The cancer is there.

You look so bright,
So happy and well.
If someone new met you
They couldn't tell.

Your strength is amazing,
Your courage so strong.
You've fought this disease
So well for so long.

It's from your strength,
that I draw mine.
I know you will come through this,
It'll just take time.
Carry on smiling,
I will too.
Through the hard times
I'll carry you.

You are my world,
The air that I breathe,
I know in my heart
You'll never leave.

Keep strong my love,
The battle has begun,
But with your strength,
It will be won.

Hello to all~

It has been a very long time since I last posted and for that i am sorry. Devon is growing like a weed. Getting taller and taller every time I turn around. I visit the Leukemia and Lymphoma board every other day to check in on the kid's. It is so sad to see all the new little one's on there. Breaks my heart that this dreadful disease affects so many lives.

We had a scare with Devon about a month and a half ago. If any of you recall, Devon had a mole on his back when he was first diagnosed that kept changing and I kept complaining about it. However, Devon's doc didn't feel it was anything to be concerned about. Well the changes to this mole were becoming drastic so I set up an appointment with a skin specialist and they did a biopsy and told me to hold on for 14 days for the results. Seven days later they called me and said that Devon had melanoma. They scheduled surgery rather quickly and went in a removed the entire area in question. They shipped that off for testing as well and we waited again to make sure they got it all. They thought they would only have to put in 1 or 2 stitches but once they got in there it had spread. 12 stitches later and they sent us on our way to wait some more. All in all his back doesn't look to bad. He was quite sore for some time but it has healed nicely. The results came back and they have gotten it all. They did a map of Devon's body and said they will keep an eye on a few more in question but he looks pretty good. I was quite the wreck but Dex kept me centered and we are back on our way of resuming the normal life! Or should I say as normal as things get around here.

Thanks for checking in on us once again. I will post again soon!!! Love to all and many blessings for you and your children.

~Lacy
