Jordan's Page Welcome to Jordan's Web Page. He was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor in October 2003 at age 12. He was treated at Connecticut Children's Medical Center by Dr Eileen Gillan who followed Dr Brian Kushner's P6 protocol. He had an extensive surgery at Sloan Kettering by Dr Michael LaQuaglia, followed by radiation, stem cell rescue and 6 months of oral chemo. He has remained tumor free since his surgery. Unfortunately, on March 28,2006 following a routine 3 month check up, he was diagnosed with MDS, a form of leukemia which rapidly progressed to AML. He received a bone marrow transplant on June 23, 2006 from his brother at MSKCC and is currently recovering from the transplant at home after being in NY for over 4 months. This website has been provided to keep family and friends updated about his progress.

Saturday, June 20, 2009 9:18 AM CDT It's official......Jordan is a high school graduate! We are very proud (and thankful ;-) ) for this accomplishment. I was a little tearful while sitting at the ceremony thinking back to 5 years ago when they told us Jordan had a 20 percent chance of survival. There were times when we feared we would never see this day. Watching him walk in with his class last night will be a memory I'll cherish forever. His plans for the future are a little shakey at this point. This may be partly my fault because for the last 5 years he has heard me say "let's just take things one day at a time" over and over again. I was referring to his battles with cancer, but he may be having a difficult time letting this train of thought go. Right now he is thinking he wants to go into radiation therapy or something with the military, but I'm not sure the second idea is even an option for him with his medical history. But for the next little bit of time he'll enjoy the graduation parties and have some fun this summer and then hopefully figure out where he's headed. Jordan's health is good at this point. He is being worked up for some residual swelling from his past surgeries, but all tests have shown that there is no recurrence of cancer. He still has a hard time gaining weight and other than that he is doing fine physically. Prayers to all of our DSRCT family especially Josh, Daniel, Zach, Patrick and Rhema. Rhema just had her debulking surgery yesterday and the doctors were able to get all but one of the tumors. We wish her a speedy, uneventful recovery. Thanks for checking in on Jordan and we hope everyone has a safe and happy summer. Love, Karen
