I've been wanting to update this page as I have always done on Jacob's birthday. This year we were in Mexico. It was really a wonderful vacation but I was just not moved as I usually am to update the site.

I also tried to update on the annivesary of Jacob's passing, but I've never liked doing that. I just don't like marking that day as if it something that should be celebrated. Similarly, I don't find myself at the grave site very often at all. I hate thinking of Jacob there - especially when it starts to get cold. I like to think of him in my nice warm house, watching over us while we eat and play and sleep ... or at Jacob's View with the butterflies.

So, it's been more than four years now. Jacob would have been FOURTEEN. I try so hard not to think of what could have been because it just hurts so much ... but, how he would have loved to have been a big-shot eighth grader at middle school ... how he would have loved showing his brother, Tyler, the ropes, and how proud and comforted Tyler would have been to have Jacob to look over him. A day doesn't go by that we don't miss our role model. I know he would have been helping Lindsey with her math and Emily with her reading and loving every minute of it. I know he would have been loving all the additional freedom that goes with being an eighth grader as well as the additional responsiblity and just running with it. But I try so hard not to think of what could have been ...

But I just can't help but think about how much I miss and love you, Jacob. I always will.
