Patrick's Page
Welcome to Patrick's page. It has been provided to keep our family and friends updated on Patrick's progress during his treatment and now his post-treatment for Near-Haploid Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Patrick was diagnosed in July of 2004, at the age of 10, and completed a three year protocol of chemotherapy at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in August of 2007.
He has bravely finished those three years and is currently in remission. There have been countless procedures, hospitalizations, illnesses, needle sticks and pills to take but the prize has been worth the fight. He and his twin brother, Brian, have battled this with amazing grace and courage.
Thank you all for the prayers and support. Our prayers now are for Patrick's continued remission and a life filled with hope and health.
Feel free to leave a message in the guestbook, we love hearing from you.
Journal
Sunday, October 12, 2008 6:55 PM CDT Patrick and I spent Monday - Wednesday in Memphis last week. All reports are good! No one could believe how tall he had gotten. He's moved from the 10th percentile to the 25th on the growth chart in just a few months. Dr. Jeha was happy to see that.
Things are really about the same as they were the last time we visited. Neurology wise - they still believe that the nerves around the spinal cord were irritated and inflamed from the spinal chemo and that the discomfort he still experiences is coming from that. He's still taking meds for that - we will just have to wait and see what happens there. They want to do an MRI of his spine the next time we visit.
His MRI of his knees and ankles showed improvement in the AVN. Another good thing. He still has pain in them when he runs in PE - we are waiting to hear what the specialist has to tell us about that. The amazing thing about St. Jude - it hits me every single time I go. If they don't have the answer - wait a minute....they will call in whoever they need to in order to find it. It is truly an amazing place. So, all is well. Remission continues which is the biggest blessing of all.
