I found your page via a young couple here in Kentucky that just lost their little girl to Hurler's. I didn't even know these diseases existed until I learned about Alyssa. Her parents are suggesting that any donations be made to Pennies for Nicoll. I praise your wonderful work. God Bless.

Hi Tracie - I love the Cam Cam stories. I can't believe how big he's getting, and cuter as the years pass too :-) We moved to the D.C. area in January but got no snow the rest of winter. The kids were bummed that they couldn't make a snow man. Too bad you couldn't have shipped us some of your snow. Hope you're enjoying the summer. Hugs,

I am still checking on you after all these years and I am SO glad to see an update and a happy one at that. Life sounds good. I am glad you got the extra help. We keep hoping Super Nanny will show up for us. We are enjoying our first snow here and the kids got out of school early today. Andrew has been out shoveling our driveway and sidewalk. He loves to work-saves me and makes him happy. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas...and New Years... and Easter...and 4th of July...if we don't hear from you again before that!! Just kidding. Don't you love when you do something good like updating and then someone hassles you. LOL. Seriously, Love, Anne

The picture with the computer made me laugh because his little second cousin Monica here, who is just a few months younger, has recently discovered some old PC games that her big brother and sister used and she gets that exact same look on her face!

Hi Cam, did you know January 24 is my dad’s birthday? He told me that your results in last update were his most beautiful birthday present! So congratulations to YOU!! Since I am back in the Netherlands they decided not to do any MRI brain scan on me yet, but this is very encouraging! Whenever that scan of mine may happen, I will certainly keep you posted. I shall never forget that talking to your parents and grandma convinced my mum and dad to go for the treatment, after my dearest friend and Angel Tommy had brought us on the track and showed us the way. Man, am I glad (certainly afterwards)!! You seem to understand a little more of the way of the world than I do, but what I do know is that I am standing healthily and happily in it and that you are my brave friend and brother in arms,
Love to you all,

Dear Mr. Hallmark,

I am writing to you from heaven, and though it must appear,
A rather strange idea, I see everything from here,
I just popped in to visit, your stores to find a card,
A card of love for my parents, as this day for them is hard,
There must be some mistake I thought, every card you can imagine,
except I could not find a card, from a child that lives in heaven,
they are still a parent too, no matter where I reside,
I had to leave, they understand, but oh the tears they cried,
I thought that if I wrote to you, that you would come to know,
that though I live in heaven now, I still love my parents so,
they talk with me, and dreams with me, we still share laughter too,
memories are our way of speaking now, would you see what you can do?
my parents carry me in their heart, their tears they hide from sight,
they plants flowers in my garden, there my living memory dwells,
they writes to other grieving parents, trying to ease there pain as well,
so you see Mr. Hallmark, though I no longer live on earth,
I must find a way, to remind her of her wondrous worth,
they need to be honored, and be remembered too,
just as the children of the earth will do,
thank you Mr. Hallmark, I know you will do your best,
find a way to tell them, how much they mean to me,
until I can do it for myself, when she joins me in eternity.

I know Christmas must be so hard for you although I can't comprehend how difficult it must be.

All my love,

Viks

It must be so hard. My sister died at Boston Children's Hospital and it took me 15 years just to go back to Boston. I have never been able to return to Children's, but I want to for some reason. Like, I almost think she is still there. Yet, I know the memories of her time there will flood me and I'm not sure if I can or want to deal with that. Glad to hear the Camster is doing well and praying his MRI results come back with good news!

I am so sorry that it was such a tough trip. I hope the results are fabulous. I can, in a small way, understand how you felt. I see and hear the ghosts of the past when I visit too but for me it is other peoples children I see and hear and not my own. I think, 'so and so was in that room until they passed' or 'that family lived there until they left.' I can't imagaine how much it must hurt for you. I wish those awful nightmares would just go away for good. The torment of the day should be enough, you shouldn't have to be haunted at night too. Douglas is safe and happy. He isn't where we would like him to be right now but he is not sad and abandoned and he knows how very much you love him. Love, Anne

I wish there was more I could say or do to comfort you, but all I can do it keep you in our prayers and look forward to good news. Dear Nicolls,

My heart was aching reading about how the trip affected you. It was hard enough to go back to Children's Hospital after we brought our Tommy home 5 years ago. I cannot imagine what it was like for you, but I can imagine an adorable little gaurdian angel walking those halls with you to help you get through it all.

And great news that Cam is letting the doctors assess him without fuss! That has got to be one of the bigger challenges with toddlers and preschooolers, just getting them to do what they need to do so the doctors can get an accurate idea of their progress. We will of course keep our fingers crossed and prayers going for clear MRI results.

Lots of hugs from CA,
Gretchen

Hi Doug and Tracie,
It was great visiting with you. I thank God I got the opportunity to see Cameron. I love the way he communicates; especially when he doesn't want to hear or do something; he sticks his fingers in his ears and shakes his head! The little man knows what he wants! He is precious. His diet leaves a lot to be desired, as his favorite treat appeared to be stones. But I believe it's a game he developed so he could laugh when you take them away from him. My prayers continue.

So good to see the update this morning. I am so glad that Cam is doing well and that he is continually making progress.

I am sure because of your deep love for Douglas, you will always have his memories and they will sometimes bring you joy and sometimes pain, but Tracie, you have done amazing things with your pain and experience to make positive and life changing experiences not only for you but for other people. Your children have shown throughout that they have immeasurable strength and my guess is they got a lot of that from you.

I am so sorry to hear your frustration but I sure do understand. I wish I had some magic to share with you. I read a new book called "you will dream new dreams" It was nice but you are sooo right in saying that it just keeps going and going and I think it is the daily survival with all the little jobs and tasks and worries that wear you down. I learned of your children through another MPS III family. I'm so happy to hear that you are seeing cognitive progression, and not regression. That is so hopeful!! Jesse was not diagnosed until 6 years old (almost 5 years ago) No one could tell us what was wrong. Anyway we started the genistein back in June 2005. We figured it was a low risk thing to try after doing much research. (Jesse was too old already for other options) Jesse was starting to regress rapidly cognitively. It seems to have stopped the regression in it's tracks so far. He is doing wonderfully considering where he was before.
I pray you see much improvement with your son also. All these treatments bring so much hope for other families, where there was no hope in the past!
May God Bless you and your family!!
Many hugs and prayers

Thank you for the wonderful update. You are in our thoughts all the time. Of course, we will continue to ask for Cam's complete healing, and that you will always feel Him holding you all in the palm of His hand. Blessings!

Hi, Tracie. It's great to get an update! It sounds like he is actually make wonderful strides! Red Robin happens to be one of our favorite places. Matt grew up in Seattle where Red Robin started. And he has taken me to the very first one! He and his friends often went there in high school. So we at least know that Cam has fantastic taste!! I wanted to ask you to pray for my friend's niece. She lives in North Carolina, is four years old and on Jan. 1st was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. She has a Caringbridge site as well. Her name is Juliana Hernandez. I figured you have an "in" with the Big Guy! :) Thanks!

Hi Guys! It was really great to hear from you again. We never stop thinking about you and praying for you. We've never been to Red Robin, but will now check it out since Cam thinks so highly of the place. Take care and we love you!

Hello!

I just wanted to say thank you so much for everything! It has been a bit of a rollar coaster here lately, but we are still on the ride! I am happy to hear that Cameron is communicating, no matter how he does it, at least he is doing it and that is wonderful!

It is so wonderful hearing how well Cam is doing! I remember those days of trying to "keep" the hearing aids and glasses on! He's 10 now and I STILL have to keep on him to keep them in when he is not at home! LOL
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
