Hi Cass. We were your neighbors when you were just a little being inside your mom! Your sister and our daughter, Maressa, were playmates very young and looked like twins then.

You are so brave and yet, so lucky to have such a wonderful family that supports you. Hang in there, kiddo. Believe!

Cassidy, It's been over four years since we last saw you when we left Grace Chapel, but you have always held a special place in our hearts. You were always too cute for words as a young child. Now we look at your pictures and see a beautiful young lady emerging. We pray God will carry you through this latest crisis and you will feel His strong arms of healing and comfort wrapped around you. Life often seem so unfair, but we have a God who walks with us through every difficult storm and carries us when we feel like we can go no further. Continue to keep your eyes on Jesus and may you always experience His love, His grace, and His strength. Jesus loves you, Cassidy, and we do, too! Please give our love to your family.

Hi Cassidy and family,
My name is Melissa and I found your site by accident when I was researching spina bifida when I found out that my daughter was going to be born it. I believe she has her's in the same area (L4) and she also has a shunt. I guess I just wanted to write to you guys and say thank you so much. You gave my husband and I hope when we didnt think there was much hope to have. Addison will now be a year old in August and it was a bumpy road at first ( four shunt revisions, a shunt infection, an insisional hernia, eight surgeries total) but man looking at her makes everything so worth it. We're so glad that God and Addie chioose us to be her parents. Even though we struggled with her diagnosis at first we just kept up with your stroy and saw what a beautiful, healthy girl your cassidy has grown into and it gave us so much strength. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I wanted to write you so many times but I kept losing my nerve and now I'm finally doing it...thanks again

We were reading your e-mail and saw the link to your web site.. This is really cool!! We love to see happy pictures of you. Tehya thought that this was a good idea and it is always nice to see other girls with spina bifida. Cassidy was an insperation for Tehya at Dr. Benson's 6 years ago when she watched her walk down the hall way!! Even though Tehya is older she wasn't walking much then. Now she walks with her crutches everywhere.. Thanks for being such an insperation to our family and for always being so sweet and caring!!:)

Cassie and Cheryl, You are truly an inspiration to so many people. Your desire to share your hope, encouragement, knowledge, and love for others(many you have never met or seen) is in itself a ministry. You helped me and my family have hope at a time when we saw no hope. You lifted my spirits daily with your encouragement. I prayed for God to send us someone with the knowledge to help and within a day I heard from you. You are an angel sent by God. Our precious little, Emma, is in His kingdom now but I would not trade a second of our experience with her. I cannot thank you enough for opening our eyes to how special children with disabilities are. Cassie, you are SO blessed! I enjoyed reading your story and will continue to follow it. God has given you a special strength, love, and grace to help others. Cheryl, your poetry touched my heart.
God Bless You and Your Family. You will be in my continued prayers.

Hi Cassidy, as your grandma I have seen you grow into a very loving, compassionate young lady. You always care so much for anyone around you who seems to have a hurt or sadness. I see you stop what you are doing and go help them. I remember when your cousin, Tiffany, was crying about missing her Papa. You reminded her that he is in heaven and now able to walk normal like you. You know how to have fun and you know when to help others. You are a Great Joy in my life. I see your family being so dedicated to making your life as normal as possible. When I saw that picture of you at the beach in March, I remembered that your mommy didn't think twice about carrying you down four flights of stairs to get you down to the ocean (not to mention the trip back up). I look forward to seeing you for Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for.

I had to read about Cassidy for an assignment in one of my classes for college. When I first started reading about all that Cassidy had been through, I cried. The more I read, the less tears I had, not becuase I wasn't feeling anything for this beautiful little girl, but I realized that she has a very strong body and soul. Not only that, but she has a wonderful family who love her very much. that together with the wonderful faith that they all have, was very refreshing to me.
It was simply wonderful to read how many people love this little girl and her family and how many lives they are touching by sharing their story.
I want to thank Cheryl for opening her heart and letting us all in. You are an extraordinary mother. Also thank you for the advice and kind workds you have given me in our e-mails.
God Bless you all.

My dear niece Cassie, I knew you and your Mom and family had touched many people's lives including our family, but I didn't realize what an impact you are making on our world. You are one of the most compassionate children I know. You have taught my girls and me so much. Thank you. Keep shining with your smile and pointing us all to the King! Love, Auntie Jeanni

Cheryl, You had e-mailed me about my entry in McKenna Roses website and said it brought you to tears. Well now I've read all about Cassidy and your family and everything you write brings me to tears. Your Faith is so beautiful. It's amazing how God uses these babies to teach us what life is really about! I also believe God and these children chose us as thier parents. I know it's very rare to get a special child who has touched more peoples hearts than some people do in a lifetime. We are truely blessed! Only three years ago I didn't even speak about the Lord. I believe one of Ella's many purposes on Earth was to save her own mother. Thank you for your beautiful words of wisdom. Just think how many people you have led to the Lord because of Cassidy Anne.

Cassidy: What a beautiful girl you are and sounds like the reason is that you come from such a beautiful family--God centered, which means everything. I know that school, under the best of circumstances, can be a hard thing but just remember that Jesus is right there by your side and He will direct your path at all times. It is a delight to read about you and I look forward to reading more in the future. God bless you and your family.

Wow! What a great idea of sharing your encouraging and uplifting words with others who are struggling with a similar situation. I feel so blessed to have met Cheryl, her daughter Cassidy and her mother-in-law Joyce at the 5K event in May, 2004 in Denver. Cody (now my exhusband) is so inspired again to do the Ride for a Cause for the Colorado Spina Bifida Assoc and kids with that birth defect. This year will be different since he's now disabled and in a wheelchair (he had an amputation in 2003). Life deals us interesting challenges and for him this last year has been a blessing in disguise. He was originally inspired to do the Ride for kids in wheelchairs and with Spina Bifida after meeting Buddy Turner of Parker,CO. Then he got to meet Ashley Hovey and all the other wonderful kids associated with C.S.B.A. He and I look forward to getting to know Cassidy more personally. She is a winner and definately can inspire other kids!
Thanks for the guestbook opportunity. Jean Owen

Dearest Cassidy, I remember when you would stand up in the middle of the room and say "I did it!". We both had the biggest smiles on our faces. Then you started taking a few steps and would say "I did it!" I was raising my hands toward heaven saying "Thank You, Jesus!" I didn't know about daddy giving you M & M's at that time or I would have had a big bowl full of them. Since then I have seen you facing new challenges all the time! I especially enjoyed seeing you play on the playground toys at the park yesterday! Let's go to the park again, soon. I love you so much, Grandma

Cassie what a miracle you are. You and your family are a testimony to God's faithfulness when we cry out to Him in prayer. Who ever would have believed when we saw you in the hospital a few days old that you would run along during pig races, ride a pony, chase birds ( Josh really caught one!!!) or have a baby goat walk on your back. NO! (but Jamie and Josh did) or see baby bears in a tree. Your parents are allowing you to have many experiences and not letting the "medical" get in the way. You are blessed to have such a caring brother and sister who know just how much to give in to you and when to take a stand and encourage you to do it yourself. We are blessed to know you all and get to camp with you. Here is to Yellowstone this summer. Get your nose ready for smelly paint pots.
