Welcome to our Web Page. It has been provided to keep people updated about Lyza, (aka Lizard) who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on October 3, 2002, at 5 years and 3 months of age. LYZA IS DONE TREATMENT!!!! She took her last chemo meds on April 23, 2005. On May 19, 2005 she had a final lumbar puncture, bone marrow aspiration and the removal of her IVAD. The LP and BMAsp looked clear! We are now on to oncologist exams in Edmonton every SIX months! We are so grateful to be at this point and SO grateful for everyone out there who supported us!

Is anyone out there? I don't blame you if you are not--it is over a year since I updated!!

No news is great news in our case. Lyza continues to do well and has never looked back since her treatment ended. It will be THREE YEARS since she went off treatment this coming week! I can honestly say there are complete days when I don't think of cancer. We now take her to clinic in Edmonton on Fridays, which is the day long term survivors go. It is now only every 6 months. Lyza will be 11 in July. She is doing excellently in school, and sleep-overs make up her weekends. She still likes to spend time with her old mom, so I am savoring that for now.

We are all doing well. Alora is 17 and works as a lifeguard and swimming instructor as well as a cashier at Totem. She has managed to bring her marks up this semester. I think she might have finally realized it counts, as she is graduating in June! She applied for Dental Assisting in Edmonton, but is on a wait list due to her 1st semester marks. Hopefully if she submits this semester's marks she will have a chance. Otherwise, I guess she will work for a year. She and her boyfriend had about a six month break, but are now together again. Alora has had her share of vehicle troubles--she had her truck and a new (to her) car totalled off in one month, but luckily no one was hurt and none of the accidents were her fault. Lloydminster has some crazy drivers! She now has had her present car for a record two months and loves it.

Wil is 15 and working at Peavey Mart and enjoys all the cash rolling in. He just started driver's ed, so hopefully he is saving for a car! He is still playing goal and will probably try out for a higher league next year. His marks have slipped a little but are still good--but no Distinction for him this year. He had a "girlfriend" but realized with work, hockey and X-box, he just didn't have time for that.

Rob has the word "retirement" in his vocabulary more and more lately. I just laugh. He's not the one who pays the bills! He is still hunting when he can and playing hockey. He got some extra goal time this year when the over 50 team asked him to fill in. It nearly killed him to be playing so much!

I am officially working 4 days a week as of last August. It cuts into the payday, but worth it to slow down a bit and catch up on my housework, etc. I find that these Fridays off aren't very often alone--amazing how many school holidays the kids get and of course Rob gets every third one off. I may have to change to Mondays off! I am getting more involved with the Union at work which surprises me the most.

All three dogs are doing well. Their mission in life seems to be to get as much dog hair into the house as possible.

My co-workers and I formed a team for Relay for Life, which is May 30th this year. Lyza wants to try to stay overnight with us. I am excited for this event and encourage anyone to participate in your area!
