Joseph T.
Welcome To Joseph's Page This was created to keep you all updated on Jospeh.
Well to make a long story short, Joseph was born with a hypospadious and cordee he had his first operation April 2000 the operation went (we were told there was less then a 1% chance anything would go wrong) well but we found out after he was allergic to codeine. Within days he lost all his stitches and we could see that it did not heal properly and he developed an infection to make it all worse. He was then booked for surgery number two in October 2000 besides being in a lot of pain and getting another infection it went a lot better then the first one. Two year later our babysitter noticed that he started peeing blood at first we were told it wasn't blood because it wasn't showing up on the dip sticks but our babysitter insisted that it was blood. On December 10th I walked in on him going and blood was coming out our doctor looked at his urine under a microscope and said he had microscopic blood in his urine on January 15th 2003 his urologist booked him for a urethroscope and dilation to be performed on March 20th 2003 because he thought he had a urethral stricture. He did have one and now has to be cathed to keep it open, the number of times a day depends on how he is passing urine the smaller the urethral the more caths have to be done (sometimes three times a day other times he only needs it once a week). He also has a few accidents now and has bladder spasms, pains when urinating and blood in his urine most of the time.
UPDATE: Joey's evaluation is in Joey has ADHD, fine motor delays and still has some language problems and spiral orientation difficulties along with a few other findings. We are told that he might have dyslexia but they are not sure because right now it could just be because of his age but if it continues on he'll have to be tested for it. This testing has to be mostly redone by his school because this test was done at the University of Guelph and not by the school board.
UPDATE: Joseph was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on Feb. 1st 2004, he is doing well so far with his injections and finger prick, He enjoys helping us with his meal plan and can name most of his "free" foods. He's handleing in better then I thought he would! He's mommy's brave boy!
Please take the time to sign Joey's guest book he really enjoys reading now that he's old enough to read it himself (with help)

Saturday, November 24, 2007 7:42 AM CST It has been ages since I've updated! Joey has been doing pretty well he is having issues with his blood sugars but mainly due to stress. My dad has been really sick the last few weeks and after a lot of testing was diagnosed with a tumor in his gallbladder on Tuesday and on Wednesday the doctor told him it was cancerous. He goes in for a tumor resection on Monday (Nov. 26) and we were told he may be out of hospital in time for Christmas, if not they will give us a pass for a few days so he can enjoy it as much as possible. The doctor told us that right now the cancer isnt our biggest worry, our biggest worry is him making it through surgery. They know his gallbladder and the lympnodes around it have to be removed but they will also be checking other places for spread (his liver is the big one) and depending on what they find will his surgery will be 5+ hours long. Since he is 66yrs old and in not so great shape right now they dont know how his body will handle surgery....Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers on Monday he will need all the prayers he can get! Obviously you can see why Joey is stressing out eh? This all on top of his brother's dx of Cerebral Palsy (Sept) and a Hemangioma (Oct) we havent heard any "good news" in months so its becoming rather depressing! At least Joey is doing good, he's the only one who hasnt been having many issues lately! lol so I guess one staying in the good is better then none right?
So far my pregnancy is going good, right now they are just worried about the amount of stress I'm going through and are worried it might end up putting me into labor. Which wouldnt be good at all especailly since I'm only 20wks right now, so we are TRYING to stay as stress free and relaxed as possible!
Please if you can say a prayer for my dad on Monday and keep him in your thoughts! He is going to need all the prayers he can get to get through all of this and hopefully God will be listening!
Thank You! -Liz
