Hey, gang. This is Dave and Paul Jansson from the Santa Clara RR club, and we're really puulling for all of you.

Patrick is more than just a kid going through a tough time. In some way, he represents something in us all as we try to make sense out of the *stuff* life throws at us. He's more than brave - he is the essence of life itself in that **YOU NEVER GIVE UP**. "Quitting" isn't in his vocabulary. Period.

He touches something in everyone he meets. Call it "mortality's spark", call it noble or transcendental or even Holy, but every breath he takes is one more candle lit against the darkness.

He's a representative of everything decent and good. He is a power unto himself in reflecting what the rest of us really are, and he graces us with his presence.

To see Patrick is to see part of ourselves. To know him is to comprehend, in his eyes, the life spirit that we all have, but too often ignore or forget.

He brings out the best in what we are. And his life also tells us, in no small or simple terms, what we're supposed to be.

No small thing, that. Nothing trivial.

I'm not religious, so these words that I say are of my own mind. Patrick is touched by a higher Grace than I can define, and all I want to do is be the best for him (and his family) that I can possibly be. My son Paul shares these thoughts with me and we;re proud, humble, and thankful to say we are in Patrick's circle.

So I called you this morning, Monday, the 24th, at the hospital number on Mom's entry from last Thursday. Anyway, you weren't there. So, I'm like all glad, thinking you're home. So now I check again, and there you are back at Packard. Boy, I just can't keep track of you.

Hi Patrick - Glad to hear you are doing okay. Ronnie Lott!!! I'm impressed. Some other parent should volunteer to do your mom's snack shack day so that mom can watch you play. I know how the system works, raised 2 boys and did a lot of snack shack days myself. My favorite is when some customer yells at the snack shack volunteers that you didn't put enough cheese on their nachos! At least it answered my question of why I never wanted to be a waitress!! Seriously, some other parent should take ALL of Lori's shifts.

Andrew Karp's stem cell harvest was a breeze. Much like giving platelets if anyone has ever done that. If you can give blood it is so important. Sounds like Patrick is a super kid. Baseball here in Minnesota does not start for over a month and at that we practice inside at the beginning. Our prayers are with you.

I know you are all anxiously awaiting the results of the Big Uno match. First, just so you know it was not rigged, Lori won the first game. Now, for the important news, Patrick still reigns Uno champion. Now, I'm really happy for him, because it proves, once again, that he is a winner, and will be a winner in the cancer battle also, BUT, I think he won the Uno Champ title under unfair odds. I wanted to give you the great news about Andrew Karp. He is a 7 year old boy we have been following his battle of the same type of neuroblastoma as Patrick. He was diagnosed in June. He has just completed the stem cell transplant and anti-body therapy. Yesterday, the doctors announced that he is cancer FREE. Gives us great hope and trust in the current therapies Patrick is beginning. Such GREAT NEWS!

Gary was stopped by a game-warden in Colorado recently while carrying

two buckets of fish up from the lake.

The game warden asked the man, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?"


Gary replied to the game warden,"No, sir. These are my pet fish."

"Pet fish?!" the warden replied.

"Yah, you bet. Every night I take these fish down to the lake and let
them swim around for a while. Then when I whistle, they jump back

into the bucket, and I take em back home."

"That's a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that!"

Gary looked at the game warden for a moment, and then said, "Here, I'll
show you. It really works."

"O.K. I've GOT to see this!." The game warden was curious now.

The man poured the fish into the lake and stood and waited. After several
minutes, the game warden turned to Gary and said, "Well."

"Well, What?" Gary responded.

"When are you going to call them back?" The game warden prompted.

"The FISH."

Hi Patrick,You don't know us but we did meet when we were little babies my mom has a picture of you and Kelsey. I guess we are second cousins because your dad and my mom Tracy are first cousins. Your grandma Weismann and my Grandpa Jones are brother and sister. Kyle and I are 5th graders and Mikey is in pre-k. We have a goat, 2 dogs,1 cat,1 horse,1 bird and dad has lots of cattle. Kyle and I both play basketball and in the summer kyle drive the tractor for dad, I tumble on a competitive team and play softball in the summer and Mikey goes to tumbling class just for fun. How is the weather in California, it is darn cold here. It was only 17 degrees for a high today!! If you would like to have a pen pal from Oklahoma we would love to have one from California. Next time maybe I can find out how to send pictures.

Dear Patrick this is Tuesday afternoon and I read that you are home. Don't over tire yourself with too many new things. Continue doing well and take the medicine on time.
We are starting to build on the farm that Uncle Lawrence got from his grandpa. The barn is almost done. Uncle Rick is finishing up the electrical work. We now have a small tractor out there it has come in real handy building driveways and rebuilding the earthen dam by the pond.

When you are well we hope your family will come back and visit us by then we hope to have our horses well trained and you and Mark could ride all over the farm. And drive the tractor down to the bottom and get firewood stacked up.

Hi Patrick, My name is Cathy Chapman and I am your Aunt Holly's aunt. We have met a couple of times but I think the last time I saw you, you were about 4or 5 years old. We all went to Great America together with Uncle Dan Aunt Holly and Kirsten and Alex and Niki and my grandkids Cody and Shelby. Shelby and you share the same birthday. Hi Patrick, I am friends with Pam and she told me of your condition. I thought I would write a positive note to you telling you how my best friend overcame cancer. When I first heard about my friend having cancer, I was very worried and did not know what to do. He went through some detailed surgeries and after that kemo. This all happened about 4 years ago and I am happy to report he is doing fine. I hope that you keep a positive attitude and try to always look on the bright side if possible. When and if you get down try and channel that into something positive. One thing my friend did was have his friends over a lot to keep him company. I will be thinking of you and wish you a speedy recovery.
