Dear Sharon,

I am so sorry for your loss. I was unaware of this until Mitch had mentioned it to me recently. As one of your former co-worker’s from way back, I would like to try through my workplace to raise some money, let me know how and what would help. Our old network of Fin people is still active, maybe we can help.

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, said Jesus but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life. As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world." John 9:1-5

I first heard about Maddison's story in a build-a-bear calender where she was a winner of the huggable heros contest. I had never heard about what she did. Since then I have learned more and decided that she would be the topic of my school speech. It is not much but I think at least some people should know how hard she worked, even in a time of great pain. I wanted people to know that maddison did a great thing. Stories spread, so I hope that more people get to know the selflessness of maddison Babineau.

Reading Maddie's story was inspiring. Sometimes angels are sent to earth for a short time to aid in suffering, I am sure Maddie is one of those earth-angels. God Bless her (huge)heart! My condolences to her family, you must feel so proud mum, keep those thoughts close to you, you will need them.

I was not really sure about writing in this difficult moment for you and your family, but I was shocked when I read about Maddie at the carepages.com. That really hit me.
Please allow me to share with you this feeling of sadness but at the same time of proud being that Maddie taught me how to be a better person, how to care more about other people, that it is possible to smile even when you are in pain.
Reading all these newspapers about how Maddie changed the world and received all these honours make me even more proud to say that I was his friend.

Hello Sharon & Derek,
No words can express my sorrow for your loss. Maddie must have been an amazing young lady. I discovered her website while doing research on Ewing's. My 16 yr old son, Connor, is fighting this awful disease right now. He was diagnosed on April 19th 2006 and we thought he was beating it. Unfortunately, it did not respond to Chemo and Radiation and he has just undergone an Internal Hemi-pelvectomy to remove the tumor and part of his pelvis. I wish that we had met Maggie, I know that she and Connor would have been great friends. Please feel free to visit Connor's website at www.caringbridge.org/visit/connorfennessy.
Our hearts go out to you and your son.

Sharon,

Just wanted to let you know that I still think about you and pray for you. I know it has been a tough road for you. I can understand both Ewing's (my now 5 year old daughter has fought it and is 15 months cancer free) and ALS (my dad died from it 8 years ago, my grandfather died of it at 32 years old, my great grandfather died from it and my aunt is currently fighting it).

Maddie sounds like a remarkable young lady. I'm sorry that I never got to meet her. I pray that you are comforted knowing that you have friends who care for you and pray for you and that Maddie is with her Daddy in heaven. May God bless you in a special way today.

When reading the newspaper not too long ago, I came across Maddie's article. It was until I was on facebook, that I remembered where I knew her from. I was Maddie's camp counsellor a few years ago. Her and Derek were both a joy to have at camp. Her smile was so contagious, she always knew how to make everyone laugh. You should be very proud of all her accomplishments. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dearest Sharon,
I was thinking about you today and wanted you to know that you are in my prayers. The legacy of love that Maddie has left on this earth will never be forgotten and it lives on in Africa too! Mia is doing well - I know that Maddie would be so pleased. She has an MRI tomorrow and the rest of her tests and scans all week. So far everything has been clear. I am sending you a warm hug today sweet Sharon and I know that He will sustain you and give you strength to carry on just as Maddie would have wanted you to. Lovingly from, Mia's Mam-ma Marty

I had read in the newspaper about her fight and her amazing spirit. The other night at the "That's Dancing" recital they had a tribute to her and showed a video about the work she did. My daughter has been talking nonstop about how someone at the age of 15 can make such a difference, when others live there whole life and do nothing. Maddie remains an insparation to so many.

I stumbled upon your web site researchnig Ewings as I too am a parent of a child fighting the disease. Your daughter was truly a special person and her memory, her kindness, her generousity and her courage will inspire others to better the world she left behind. There is much work to do in her memory and in her memory much good will come.

My daughter has the good fortune of struggling through survival and the challenges that treatment bring as she enters her 5th year of survival at age 8. With Maddie as inspiration (and she has read her courageous story) she will work to better the world in memory those taken by the awful disease.

I just heard the saddening news as I am off on maternity leave. I can't believe that she has been sent to heaven so soon. I was seeing the wonderful pictures and it was reminding me of how strong and beautiful she was. May your family be strong through this time and may everyone keep her legacy going with building a village in Africa.

My name is Sheila and you and I used to run from the Runner's Den. I remember you telling me about Maddie one Saturday morning. When I read the Spectator on Thursday and realized that the story was about your daughter I was heartbroken. Please know that your daughter is a testament to you and that you taught her well. She was an amazing young woman and you have so much to be proud of. I am sorry that I never had the honour of meeting Maddie. Anyways, some day when you're feeling up to it, come back to the Runner's Den. We're still there. God bless you and your family.

Babineau Family,
I had the pleasure of being Maddie's Camp Counsellor at Huntington Park over two years. Even at 10 and 11 years old, I knew there was soemthing special about her. She had a heart of gold. You should be proud of the impact that your daughter made not only to a city, but to a world or he selflessness that she demonstrated. She was wise way beyond her years.
Shaye sings a song "Beauty", and hearing it yesterday made me think of Maddie, and gave me an understanding of why she was chosen........

So you've come to this bridge
In an unfamiliar land
You know it's a bridge you are going to walk on
And the only thing you know is
Everything you know
Will do you no good from here on

And the day that you spin
From your little cocoon
Well, you can't be prepared
For the beauty you'll find there
And you will find beauty
In the toughest of places
And I will be thinking of you out there

So pick up your bags
Look around at your friends
And you know none of them
Would ever have enough strength
To cross the bridge and lose control
I never felt this bold
Never felt this good

And the day that you spin
From your little cocoon
Well, you can't be prepared
For the beauty you'll find there
And you will find beauty
In the toughest of places
And I will be thinking of you

Stay true to your nomad skies
Keep your eyes out for coyote
A thousand secrets are lost
In the archival dust
So lay your ears upon the tracks

One day you will come back
With wrinkled hands and grey hair
And there you will stand on the spot
And you'll marvel how the place is still the same
Though you are somebody else now
Fly on butterfly

And the day that you spin
From your little cocoon
Well, you can't be prepared
For the beauty you'll find there
And you will find beauty
In the toughest of places
And I will be thinking of you out there

I am very sorry for your loss. I heard about Maddie's story on CH Morning Live and i was touched by her love for others and her care for the world. Lately i have been talking alot about death at school, my teacher believes the good die young, maybe to show us what life is really about? i guess we will never know. Stacey McFarlane is among one of the many young that have died, she lived with cystic fibrosis for her whole live and died 3 days before her 16th birthday, she went to my school and i don't think i ever saw her being selfish. We must treasure these loving people and learn from them. We will always miss you Maddie! Rest in Peace Stacey and Maddie!

To the Babineau Family,
I want to send you all my deepest condolenses, and even though I never knew Maddie personally, she has inspired me and most certainly many others. She exemplifies what life is all about; about giving, sharing, and love. I believe she will always be remembered by those who knew her and those who never got the chance to know this angel that was on our earth, and now an angel in heaven. It is remarkable how she gave the gift to soo many children in Kenya, giving them a chance to chilhood, education and most importantly a better future.
May she rest in peace and continue to smile her beautiful smile, and watch over her loved ones from up above.

Dear Mrs.Babineau and Derek
I heard about Maddie through my friend Jennifer Weir in Texas - her little boy Kevin has Ewings but is doing well and is off treatment. My name is Grainne Owen and I lost one of my four sons, who was a twin, to leukemia in July of 2003 when he was 9. His name was Killian. I just wanted to tell you that Maddie truly was an angel on earth - all of these children who we lose to cancer are God's special ones who he cannot bear to be parted from for long. I cannot explain why these beautiful innocent children have to suffer so much here on earth but I know they are all together in heaven and they are more beautiful and happier than we can even imagine. Killian's story is at www.caringbridge.org/ga/killianowen if you feel up to reading it I thought it might help to read about a family that has come out the other side of the worst of the grief. What Maddie did while she was alive is a tribute to her loving family and her own loving heart. If you need another mom to talk to who understands without you having to explain how you feel then please contact me. Sometimes it helps to have someone to talk to and I would love to hear more about Maddie - it helps me to talk about Killian so maybe it would help you to talk about Maddie. Anyhow, please know my whole family is remembering you in our prayers and I bet she and Killian are having great fun together up there. With love and blessings to you both, Grainne.

It had been several years since I saw Maddie. We went to elementary school together and she lives just down the street from me. But when she came in to Build A Bear to spend a gift card awarded to her for making it to the next round of the Huggable Hero contest I recognised her right away. Maddie is a great inspiration to everyone she touched. Her determined spirit and bright smile will certainly be missed by everyone who knew her.

Dear Babineau family:
As I was on a walk with my good friend walking past Maddie's house (my friend lives near Maddie). My friend started talking to me about this girl named Maddie Babineau, my friend told me that Maddie was a very strong girl for going through cancer and dealing with the everyday stuggles. She also told me that maddie was one of the nicest young girls you would ever meet and has an amazing heart of gold. Today, i heard that maddie has passed away andthought I did not know her, I feel like she has touched me in many ways, and she teaches me that I should cherish every moment on earth, love everyone, and never take advantage of anything I have.
thanks Maddie, you have had an amazing influence on all of us, you are in a betterplace of peace <33

Hey Maddie,

You have been recieving a ton of positive support, and I know you can pull through this. If this hasnt been mentioned before in previous posts,I just wanted to say
that Lance Armstrong had only a 3% chance of surviving when he had cancer but with his positive attitude he made it through. You above all people Maddie have enough goodwill and positive energy to survive anything!!!!! Good Luck even though you will not need it!!! We're all cheerin for ya of course because you are on the winning side while the cancer is being left in the dust. Besides no one would cheer for any type of loser sickness(bad joke).

I believe that the right thing will work out and everyone will be happy. I believe that you will survive because God wants you on this earth to help. You have helped so many people. I know that maybe this message will not mean anything comming from me, but, I hope that this message will stick in your mind and that you will remember this, not me. I hope that you will make a full recovery and will help the world even further. No, you know what? I KNOW you will make a full recovery because you are the Earth's Angel.

Dear Maddie, Sharon and Derek

We are praying for Maddie and your family as our other members of our family and friends who have been touched my Maddie's story. Your family has shown amazing strength, spirit, love, faith, courage, and selflessness and anyone who has had the privilege of meeting Maddie has been enriched by doing so. She has grown in this journey from a courageous young girl to an amazing young woman who at even this tender age is teaching people far older than her lessons in life. Maddie, keep fighting, so many are praying for you.

Dear Maddie,Sharon and Family
Just a note to say we are praying for Maddie at this difficult time. We know Maddie from the Hospital (Mac) as my son was in sometimes beside Maddie . Bradley always wanted to meet her but never seemed to get the chance,Bradley had the same cancer as Maddie so we know how difficult this is. I was supposed to meet you Sharon at one time but the meeting didn't happen . We admire Maddie for her strength and hard work she is doing to help out the kids in Africa and she is truly an inspiration as our son is. You also are such an amazing family filled with love and we always keep you all in our prayers. If you ever need to talk Sharon please call 1-519-7522358 anytime I will be happy to talk to you as I understand completly this journey and feel for you . Tell Maddie she is thought of fondly and loved by everyone and also my sons friends from Hamilton did a fundraiser for Maddies cause for Africa and he weas quite happy they were doing so. Stay strong ,keep the faith and we will keep posted on Maddies condition and pray for your miracle.

Hi Maddie & Family,
It's great to read your journal entry and to hear about your wonderful evening in Niagara Falls. You are really an amazing young lady and I am so blessed to know you. Mia is doing really well these days - she's eating everything and so we are hoping to remove the G-tube soon. All of her March tests and scans have come back clear of cancer and she can now be around other people again. We are actually taking her to IKEA today - should be an adventure as she hasn't been shopping for many months. We think of you often sweet girl and want you to know that you are in our prayers. You have touched our hearts and so today we send you a big hug. If you are up to a visit, we could bring Mia in to see you one day when she comes to clinic. Let us know if you are in the hospital this Friday and we will stop in. Have a good day sweet girl - warm hugs from,

Hi Maddie

I just read your article in the Ottawa Citizen, and I just have to say that I think you are an incredibly courageous, kind and generous young lady. I know that those kids in Africa will really appreciate the donation of your prize – how very thoughtful of you!

Seeing your thousand (or perhaps, better!) Million Watt smile in the paper really picks all of us up, you know...You have a true gift in inspiring all of us.

You can beat this Maddie - we’re all behind you!

Take care,

PS. And I too, look forward to buying some jewelry from you when you’re feeling better. My mother would love it!

Hi there Maddie, Sharon and Derek. I have just finished reading the article "An Angel, a Wish, an Inspiration" published today in the Ottawa Citizen. I continue to be dumbfounded that I have not known about you when you are doing such amazing things! I suspect there are many others like me that you will be hearing from because of this article. I hope their messages and well wishes somehow translate into the medicine needed to make you well. I know I will be thinking of you often and praying that you are soon able to move beyond this latest setback. You have done so much - more than many of us have done in our lifetimes. Maddie, you are a very special young woman and you have touched so many people. To think that there are children in Enelerai, Kenya who know who you are and who have learned to read because of you....WOW!!! You are obviously meant to do incredible things.
Thank you for making a difference and being such an inspiring role model. You are fortunate to have such a caring supportive family and I know that together you will all get through this.
Best Wishes,
Rhonda Pike

Maddie, I was touched when I saw your story on CTV Toronto News on Sunday March 4th 2007. God has placed His love in your heart and given you the desire to reach out and touch others. As you go on your life's journey remember Jesus has placed you here for this very purpose. Great is your reward in heaven. Keep up the good work and may God be with you and in you until He returns for His own children. Sharon, I pray for blessings onto you and your whole family.
I would like to be a part of this work you have started in Africa. Please send me the details for sending donations.

Dear Maddie,
I admire your courage and generosity. Is it possible to buy a peice of your jewelery? I would like to have something that you have touched.
God Bless You. I will pray for you.
