Kurtis William Meek celebrated a happy 5th Birthday on December 15th, 2002. Five weeks later he was unable to walk and diagnosed with leukemia. He was at Children's Hospital in Oakland until 2/25/03,when he was finally released . Apparently the leukemia wouldn't allow adequate protein and growth to the bone structure of his spine and small fractures were occuring in the discs in his lower back. He has been responding well to the many chemotherapies and steroid treatments. The extreme pain in his back has begun to subside. It will be a day to day wait for the next 3 years of treatments and tests. We feel very good about his prognosis and the care he receives from the dedicated staff at Oakland's Children's Hospital. Thank you everyone for your prayers and offers of help, we all love you.

Well hello to everyone out there, I really dont know where to begin since so much has happend in the last month. I would again like to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped our family out since this tragedy has occured. We our doing very well now thanks to the overwhelming love and supportwe have and still recieve from all of our friends and family. Kurtis is doing so good in school and is one of the best students in all the first grade at his school, he is so smart and has picked up like he never missed a day.[Thank God] Kurtis has all his hair back gained 20+ pounds and looks just like a normal 6 almost 7 year old. I am so glad that god has blessed us with a little angel, he is the world to both Tora and I and who knows where we would be without him. I am so grateful to have my son home with us everyday, he is a blessing and i love him very much.

Love,
Big Kurt
