WOW! FIVE YEARS! THAT IS AWESOME! IT IS SO GOOD TO HEAR THAT KARLY IS DOING SO WELL IN SCHOOL. THAT IS GREAT THAT SHE MADE THE HONOR ROLL. I CAN RELATE TO YOU IN SO MANY WAYS. I REMEMBER PRAYING EVERY DAY THAT GOD WOULD BRING JOHNATHAN THROUGH HIS TRANSPLANT. I FELT LIKE I WAS IN A SPIRITUAL BATTLE,EMOTIONAL BATTLE, AND A PHYSICAL BATTLE ALL AT THE SAME TIME. IT WAS ROUGH, BUT AT THAT TIME IT SEEMED LIKE THAT WAS WHEN MY FAITH WAS THE STRONGEST. I KNOW AND YOU KNOW THAT THEIR IS POWER IN PRAYER. EVERY DAY IS A BLESSING BECAUSE JOHNATHAN IS STILL HERE. I AM SO GLAD TO HEAR THAT KARLY IS DOING SO WELL AND HAS MADE SO MUCH PROGRESS OVER THE YEARS. I STILL CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR A CURE. I WILL NEVER GIVE UP THAT HOPE.

KEEPING YOU IN MY PRAYERS ALWAYS.

GOD BLESS!
ANN

DON'T WORRY THAT YOU'RE NOT STRONG ENOUGH BEFORE YOU BEGIN. IT IS IN THE JOURNEY THAT GOD MAKES YOU STRONG.

Nancy, a friend on the ITP site gave me Karly's site...the reason being, my two year old granddaughter has been diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia....thought it was ITP at first until she stopped responding to the conventional treatment in a very short time, and the second bone marrow biopsy showed bone marrow failure. Sadie Mae, my grandbaby, did not match her older sister, and now we don't even know what to do. I really could use someone to talk to that has been through the experience. What kind of questions should we be asking her doctors? Do you have any words of wisdom for us? I've read some of your posts...enough to know that your prayers were answered....Praise God!!!
Thank-you in advance,

Hey Nancy!!!
We received your card. Thank you so much for thinking of us and taking the time to write. Like you, I do love the rose garden. We saw Dr. Falk this AM and he said to tell you guys he says hi and that he got your Christmas letter. I said, "I got a card from a former patient, a little girl with anemia" and he said, "Oh? Karly?" She must have made an impression! :-)

Hi Nancy, Glad to hear you all arrived safely in South Carolina. I hope you like it there. You will hate the humidity, my daughter did when she moved back here to Virginia after living in San Diego for almost 2 years. What a fast trip. Hope you have a good girl scout year. My Carrie is junior in high school and we only have 2 girls left in the troop. I am not sure what we will do with these girls. I hope Karly has a great year in school. Sarah is in college now and homesick. Her counts have been in the 130's or so for a few years now. You should update on the PSDA site. Take care, Debbie

Hi Nancy, It's so wonderful to hear that Karly continues to do so well in all areas. My son was pretty short growning up and my husband thought he should have growth hormones or something too. I didn't like the idea of it. Just last week my husband told me that Chris is now taller than him 5ft 9in. That means that Chris is at least 5ft. 10in. a very good height for a boy. He just kept growing longer than most boys-he's 23 now. Sarah is only 5ft 2inches. I think it's fine if girls are a little shorter. Karly is so cute-she will be fine. I am going to go to the site you mentioned. Happy Holidays to your family!

Hi,
Came to your page after your email to Prayerbears. What an adorable daughter you have in Karly! Bookmarking the page so I can follow her wonderful progress. Looks like you have a beautiful day for a wedding and sounds like you are very happy to have a wonderful stepmother. Congratulations to your Dad and Ize! Karly is definitely in my prayers that her surgery goes wonderfully well tomorrow. By the way, my sister is only 4'11", she takes after my paternal grandmother who was only 4'10". Never bothered her one bit being short, also my oldest male cousin is only 5'2" while his wife is 5'4", never bothered him either, mind you the rest of the family is between 5'7" to 6'2"(although my boys will be taller as my husband is 6'4" and my 14 year old is already 6'1").
Hugs to all of you!

Nancy and Karly,

Sounds like you guys had a terrific time, Karly would have been laughing soooo much at me shaking because of the BEARS she would not have even thought of being afraid herself..LOL

Steven's wish is in the works as I type this, the basement is already painted etc., the designers are coming sometime this week to paint the murals on the walls, then we are all set to go...

He is so excited, but has been great at not peeking..for the first 3 weeks of construction he and his younger brother Gary were at their Gran and Granda's in Wasaga Beach, he returned home on Friday night!! I really missed them both, it is the longest time they have every spent away from me..

I think of you guys often, but only get to visit this page when I have some free time ( and with 3 boys there is not tooo much of that going around LOL).

Love you guys

I just want to say... what an inspiration Karly is. What a sweet little face she has. I also wanted to comment on what a great Mom you have Karly. I sense your mommys spirit is soft and tender. I want you all to know, I am putting Karly and your family on my prayer list. You have touched me tonight, as I read your entries. My son has ITP... and was diagnosed a month ago. Reading what you have been through made me realize how we must hold on to Gods hand and keep fighting the battle. The word that comes to my mind for Karly and the family is INSPIRATION! Thank you with all of my heart. I needed to be touched tonight. I wish you all of Gods richest blessings. I pray psalm 91 over Karli. Thank you. Nicole (caleb 5)

Sorry that the donor has not signed the consent. It would be amazing to meet this special person in person. We are so happy to hear that Karly is doing well. We are glad that she is back at home and making a quick recovery.

We have been plugging along here...RJ had the flu that has left him with a cough. I have been on the phone with the doctor daily in hopes that we don't have to bring him in and expose him to other stuff. He is on the nebulizer several times a day.

It just hit me reading your posting that Christmas is only now 10 days away. Don't feel bad, I guess we are kind of behind too. You are right...SO much to be thankful for.

Have a Happy Christmas! God Bless.

Hi - Just thought I would write a quick note - I have watched Karly's page through most of her transplant and I checked it today and found out she is in the hospital - We are praying for her recovery. My son Jordan has FA, he is 11. We found out when he was 9. We will be going to transplant sometime and your story is an inspiration to me that it does work - after reading about Marshall and some of the other kids that go through it - it scares me to death to go there - but as you well know - every child is different - We will be praying for Karly and that she will continue to do good.

Both kids are suffering asthma-wise. So far we can treat them at home. Some of our friends have lost their home in Scripps Ranch but their faith is carrying them through. We will be lifting your family up with prayers during this difficult time in your life. 1Co:10:13: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. This verse was given to me today for our personal stuggles. Hope it helps you as well.

Just reading your posting makes me feel overwhelmed...I can only imagine how you feel. I don't have quite as many things going on and not to the degree of yours, but I too have been feeling overwhelmed and thinking, what is the next step? How is this going to be solved. Where do I go from here? How can I manage? My answers are once again found in God's words. Maybe they can help you during these times...I will instruct you and guide you in the way you shall go: I will guide you with mine eye. Psalms 32:8
In all the ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6
He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength Isaiah 40:29
Your mom is in our prayers and so are you and the family. Hang in there. Glad Karly's appointment went so well.

I'm sure Dr. Loh was happy to see Karly today too.

You are going through a lot right now. Give yourself a break with the phone calls. Everyone can wait. They all understand. Although, it might help you if you talk to a couple of your close friends. But, if you can't fit it in, there's tomorrow, or the next day or the next... That's the great thing about friendship, they are always there and always understanding.

We stop to pray several times a day for your family. You are all in great hands. God Bless You,

Nancy, I have just been given another person in the caring bridge website, who is a very close and personal friend of our family. She happens to have the same name as your Karly but spelled with a "C". She is suffering from NF Sarcoma cancer and is in her first round of Chemo here in SD and has had 2 major surgeries in the past 2 months. They are very a very strong Christian family and need a lot of peoples prayers and thoughts right now. I know that this Carly would love to send your Karly a message when she is feeling better. She is 18 years old and due to graduate at Santana this year. She is a very special young lady and is fighting a very large battle right now. Her mother's name is Kim and I know that they would love to hear from you when you have a spare minute. Her name on the caring bridge website is: Carly_bugg03. Keep them in your prayers. It is our hope and prayer and this will be our last entry! We have all prayed for this day to come and it did! The Lord has some special Angels watching over you! I talked to your Daddy today, and when he said you were coming home tomorrow, he was soooo happy his eyes had tears in them. What a happy Daddy you have! We are all hoping and praying that you can both come home on Weds. It is fantastic that you are doing so wonderful little lady! Since you are well on your way home, we will just save the stuff we had for you until you get home. Every time I get online, Jeffrey and Chritotpher ask how you are, they know that I have gone to your WEB site and seen your progress. They are excited as well that you are coming home soon! Nancy, please ask for help when you get home, when you need it. That is what friends and neighbors are for. I would be happy to do what ever you needed help with, to make things a bit easier on everyone. Scott and I will always be here for you all! We'll be praying for a great report on Monday!

Hey Karly and Nancy...

The news just keeps getting better and better. I am so happy for you all. I will keep you all in my thoughts that Karly does make it "near home" in one week time. So pleased to read that she is loving her physio - that is half the battle!

I read the site daily to keep track of you Karly. You are a pillar of strength - like your Mom!

Dear Karly and Nancy,
So you like Oreos and that drinkable yogert huh? Morenci likes the same stuff. Do you like Snickerdoodles? I promise to make you some when you get home. I am so glad to hear you are getting better. When Morenci has to swallow pills her dad crushes them in a spoonful of sugar like Mary Poppins did. I wonder if you are able to try that. Hugs to you and your mom.

Happy Easter to the Ross Family! What a day it has been too. The best news yet for Karly and we are all praying that those numbers keep going up and up! The Lord is watching over you and all the childern in that wonderful place, today, and everyday. The Parade Magazine in today's paper has a wonderful article about St. Judes and what it does to help the kids and the fmailies too. I encourage everyone to read it. Nancy, I am happy to hear that Kyle was able to come up and be with you and Karly today. We are putting together a "care package" for Karly and some things for you too. We will try and get it to Les before he comes up again. Keep up the good work Karly, We love you all and pray for Karly's speedy recovery.

WOW: It is great to see Karly's numbers going up again, and to read that she went out and enjoyed herself. Our prayers and wishes are that she is able to come home in May. That light at the end of the tunnel are the Angels Karly has had with her all this time. The light is bright and will continue to get brighter too; and once she is out of that tunnel the heavens will sing. She is a bright spot in so many of our lives. We will continue to keep your family and all the childern up there in our thoughts and prayers.
Take care,

Hi Nancy,
I am so sorry to hear that you had to go to the ER. Glad to hear that you are ok now.

I feel bad...I had no idea that the BMT was not a "cure" for Karly. I thought that once she was in the clear, she was ok, worry free, back to normal. I am going on the FA site to try to understand better.

Our prayers remain with you.

Nancy and Karly (Les and Kyle too)

I was relieved to know that you are taking time for yourself Nancy. You deserve every moment to cry and have time to reflect on what you ALL have been through. It has been a tough journey for Karly but also for the rest of the family near and far. You need time to heal through this process too, not physically but mentally and emotionally.

I was also over joyed to read a target date for release. Way to go Karly. I never expected it to be so soon but I am thrilled that it is.

I hope the home preparations go quickly with no road blocks and that Karly is back in her loving home with you all!

hugs and positive thoughts as Karly is always in my thoughts!

I know it'll be hard to go home for the day. It's good that you are taking care of yourself. I hope all goes well with your check up.

I am so glad to hear that the goal is to get Karly home by May 1st. What kind of preparations need to made in your home for her to return? I am assuming it is making sure it is close to germ-free? Those types of things? If there is anything we can do to help, let us know. If it's changes in the house that Les needs help with, Ray would love to help.

Crying is good. I'm glad to hear that you have allowed yourself to cry. God knows you have faith and he knows your belief. It's cleansing to cry.

It's funny how times that I worry or feel like I am losing my way, the word of God comes through loud and clear. I thank you for that reminder. By sharing with all of us you have helped me. Just by checking in on you and Karly, I have been reminded (through your words) and comforted (by the words of the Bible) regarding my life. Thank you for sharing with us. Thank you for keeping us posted on Karly. You are in our hearts and our prayers.

Nancy,
I know how it feels to feel sorry for yourself. It takes the words of another to make you realize that things are really okay in your life. We need to remember that we have our family, prayer, and friends and that we need to ask them for love and understanding in our moments of weakness.
We got our letter from St. Judes today thanking us for the donation (which was in Karly's name) We also donated our Toyota to St. Judes in Karly's name. So if you get a note saying that anything was donted in her name now you know what it was from. And for anyone else out there, who has a car that is just in the way, you can donate it in the name of a child. For more infomtaion you can E-Mail me @ boyzmama@hotmail.com
Those days that you think were too long or the nights too short, just remember that the Lord is with you, helping you keep the pace, and the strength. So as he told us to do many times in the Bible, we need to lean on him, and trust in him and he will make sure that all will go as it should.
Take care and I'll write again soon,

What a pleasant and wonderful surprise to read such a positive post about Karly. She missed you when you went to Knotts Berry but I bet the excitement from Kyle surely helped you manage your guilt. It is so hard with two kids when one needs you so much!

Again - you deserved the break and Karly needed to spend time with her Dad too!

Let Karly know that she is in my thoughts daily as are you. She is her Mother's daughter, her strength proves that.

Hi Nancy,
It is so important to get away when Les comes tomorrow. I can imagine that it would feel weird as you are inside and busy with Karly 24/7. You're right though, you do need alone time with your son. It'll do you both good. I'm glad Karly felt like being up more today. I can understand Karly acting out. She has got to feel like "isn't this over yet?" It's all got to be old for her already. The sticker chart sounds like a great idea giving her something to look forward to. Have fun at Knotts tomorrow.

Nancy,
I can hear the pain in your message! Next time Les comes up if you need anything I'll get it for you! Books or a nice soft pillow? I am sure you are not getting as much sleep as your body would like. I know that Karly is in GREAT hands, but you needto make sure that you keep yourself healthy too! We love you all so much. Scott wants to donate his hair for the kids. Nancy,

My heart is breaking after reading your note today. I wish some magic words would make it go away. I guess my magic words are prayer.

May God bless Nancy and Karly and keep them safe. May God be with Nancy and Karly and give them strenghth. May he comfort them and guide the doctors and nurses. May he know how thankful we are that they have made new friends who offer such support and understanding. Friends who we also pray for as they go on this same journey. We pray that the Lord helps them both to
concentrate on THIS day and not fear the future. We ask you Lord to take their pain, sadness, and worry. We ask you for moments of peace throughout this process so that Nancy and Karly can be recharged to face the next step in this journey. We thank you Lord for holding them close. We thank you for Karly's donor. Help him/her to know how thankful her family and friends are and how we all appreciate this special gift. Please continue to watch over them. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

love to you and Karly,
Carrie

Hello Karly and Mom,
You two are very addictive! I log on a few times a day just to see if there is new news. I want you to know I think about you both everyday and know this must be the toughest thing you'll ever do. Keep bright spirits and know that there are a bunch of us Cajon Parkers thinking about you every single day (probably every hour too;)). Have the best day that you can.

Hi there Nancy and sweet Karly!
The Eidson family is thinking of you both! Nancy, you know that you have a tough little girl there next to you! God makes them stornger than us,I think, so that we can endure their pain with them. Childern are so innocent and yet they can get the worst of the worst! No resonable parent wants to have thier little ones to go through any pain, but some is needed, and for Karly this pain is needed. I can tell you, from my own experience, Karly will not rembember this the way you and Les will. That is natures small gift to those who have to go through a lot of pain.
Nancy, I want to send some home cooked food over to the men folk, what do the guys like? If you get a moment to let me know. We are keeping you and your family always in our thoughts and prayers.
Until next time,
Rebecca, and the Eidson Family.

Hey Karly, Hey Nancy,
Karly, My girls and I have been thinking about you. We have never met, but I've seen your pictures. I am one of the North Carolina cousins that gets to see your Grandaddy when he comes to visit. My 12 year old Kristin has met your brother, but she says she can not remember him. We are going to have to fix that. Your Mama came to North Carolina when she was a teenager and visited with us, so when you feel better, we'll come to California and visit with you.
I hear you and your family know how to have a good time and we love having a good time. I will send some pictures this week, so you can see how pretty we are. It runs in our family. Nancy, take care of yourself and e-mail me back if you get the time. Thinking of you!!

Hi Nancy, Try not to worry so much about work. Before Shelby got sick I was the allergy nurse at a very busy clinic and I stressed and worried about if everything was being done and would call from the hospital and run to the office from the hospital to order and handle things on my desk and between that and worrying about Shelby it about got the best of me. Well the day came when we were in the hospital 2 hours away for long stays and I just had to hand it over and they survived. Now I am home with Shelby and looking back I wished I had not stressed out so much for work. Keep yourself strong for Karly. We will continue to pray for Karly and you and your family. The Lord will renew your strength. I have not had to go through a transplant. I can only imagine what you are going through. Just know that some people in the South care about you and are lifting you up daily. Give Karly a big hug! Hang in there! Love..Dana

Karly and all, Just want to say that you will be in our prayers as you go through these trials. When my son was diagnosed with ITP I prayed that it would not turn out to be anything worse, and, if so, that God would let me be the one and not Seth. We were very lucky, and we know that. I would gladly have changed places with him and I know, Nancy, that you would do the same if you could.

Give up your burdens to God and he will carry them for you. Never lose your faith and trust the Lord to hold Karly in His arms.

Our prayers are with you.

My son has FA. Kyle is 7 and had his transplant 1-29-01 in MN. His dad was his donor. He is doing great but it was a long four months. You are so lucky to have that many potential donors. If we can be of any help please let us know. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Never doubt how much God loves you. Most of us have found out by now that this place is not heaven, that we are only pilgrims on a journey passing through. Even God himself faced scary and challenging times when he walked this earth in the flesh. Know that are not alone. You have God the Holy Comforter, the Encourager, the Healer, who is present with you and at work in the world today. And you have the Body of Christ -the people who are the church. Faithfully yours and His,
