Angel Alyssa's Page Birth-5/17/97- new birth in heaven 12/13/03
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference.
Welcome to Angel Alyssa's Web Page. It has been provided to keep people updated about our Child.
A LITTLE ABOUT ALYSSA: SHE WAS BORN ON MAY 17,1997. IN MARTINEZ, CALIF. TO YVETTE AND OCTAVIO AREBALO. SHE WAS FIRST DIAGNOSED WITH THIS BRAIN TUMOR THAT THEY CALL PNET TUMOR OR MEDDULOBLASTOMA AT THE AGE OF 2 YEARS OLD.
HER SYMPTOMS FIRST STARTED AS VOMITING IN THE MORNING AND WEAKNESS ON HER LEFT SIDE OF THE BODY. A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE SHE WENT INTO A COMA SHE WAS COMPLAINING OF SEVERE HEADACHES. WE TOOK HER TO THE DR. A LOT OF TIMES BECAUSE SHE WAS LIMPING ON HER LEFT LEG . WE WERE REALLY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE NO DR. COULD FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HER, NONE OF THEM EVER SUSPECTED BRAIN TUMOR, AND FRANKLY I NEVER KNEW THERE WAS SUCH A THING IN CHILDREN.SO THAT NEVER CROSSED MY MIND.
THE DAY WE FOUND OUT I WILL NEVER FORGET. IT IS LIKE A NIGHTMARE I WANTED TO WAKE UP FROM. WE HAD GONE CAMPING AND WHEN WE WERE PACKING OUR THINGS TO GO HOME SHE WAS COMPLAINING OF A BAD HEADACHE, I JUST THOUGHT SINCE IT WAS EARLY IN THE MORNING SHE MUST HAVE SLEPT WRONG AND HER WHOLE BODY HURT OR JUST WANTED ATTENTION. WELL ON THE WAY HOME SHE FELL ASLEEP AND SHE WAS OUT FOR THE WHOLE DAY ONLY WOKE UP A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE NEXT DAY SHE DID NOT WANT TO GET UP SHE WAS VERY INCOHERENT SO YVETTE TOOK HER TO THE DR. WHEN THE DR FIRST SAW HER SHE TRIED TO TAKE HER PULSE AND SHE JUST LAID MOTIONLESS SO THE DR. OPENED HER EYES AND LOOKED AT HER PUPILS AND IMMEDIATELY ORDERED A CAT SCAN. THEN WE HAD THE BAD NEWS SHE HAD A MASSIVE TUMOR FROM THE BACK OF HER HEAD TO THE FRONT. SURGERY HAD TO BE PERFORMED IMMEDIATELY, SO THEY SENT US TO STANFORD LUCILLE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL WHERE SHE HAD SURGERY FOR 4 HOURS. AND THAT'S HOW OUR NIGHTMARE BEGAN. THE ONLY POSITIVE ABOUT THIS IS IT BROUGHT US CLOSER TO GOD, WE NEVER PRAYED OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED GOD. I KNOW GOD HAS A SPECIAL PLAN FOR ALYSSA HERE WITH US AND WE HAVE FAITH IN HIM, OUR DAUGHTERS LIFE WE PLACE IN HIS HANDS AND TO TELL YOU I WOULDN'T WANT THEM ANYWHERE ELSE. ALYSSA HAS BEEN BATTLING THIS TERRIBLE DISEASE FOR 4 YEARS NOW AND EVENTUALLY WITH GOD'S HELP SHE WILL DEFEAT IT !!!

Recipe for tear soup:
TEAR SOUP, a recipe for healing after loss Helpful Ingredients To Consider: a pot full of tears one heart willing to be broken a dash of bitters a bunch of good friends a handful of comfort food a lot of patience buckets of water to replace the tears plenty of exercise a variety of helpful reading material enough self care season with memories optional: one good therapist and/or support group
Directions: Choose the size pot that fits your loss. It's ok to change the pot size if you miscalculated. Combine ingredients. Set temperature to a moderate heat. Cooking times will vary depending on the ingredients needed. Strong flavors mellow over time. Stir often. Cook no longer than you need to.
Suggestions: Be creative. Trust your instincts. Cry when you want to, laugh when you can. Freeze some to use as a starter next time. Write your own soup making in a journal so you won't forget
