Welcome to Alex's Web Page. It has been provided to keep family and friends updated on Alex's progress as he undergoes treatment for
ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). Alex was diagnosed 8/22/01. He relapsed in the Central
Nervous System in August 2002 and the Bone Marrow in October 2002. He is now in remission
and received a Cord Blood Transplant on

Wow, I'm not sure how two months have flown by since my last update! Alex did have 3 appointments at Georgetown at the beginning of March. We decided that while we liked only having to go one day it was really exhausting. Our new plan was to aim for no more than two appointments on one day. Unfortunately when we were at Duke at the beginning of April Alex's blood sugar was high so his endocrinologist wants to see him when we go in May 5th and we already had BMT and ENT scheduled that day. Other than the blood sugar issue things are going pretty well.

We drove to Orlando for Spring Break and Alex managed to get a cold the day before we left. Thankfully it was a minor cold and he got over it pretty quickly. The kids decided that they liked Epcot the best but we also enjoyed the Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom. From Orlando we headed to Duke and both the dermatologist and Dr. K were pleased with how well Alex looked and told us that we don't need to go back for 6 months!

Alex has been busy at school the last few weeks running the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients Program. So far the kids have raised a little over $2,000!!! Alex volunteered me to pick up the money each Friday for 3 weeks. The first week they called me on Wednesday and told me to come in since the boxes were overflowing. I also picked up on Friday and the boxes were pretty full again. I'm so proud of Alex for taking the initiative to get his middle school involved in helping raise money and awareness for blood cancers. He worked his way up the chain of command and the principal told him he could do it :-)

Last weekend we were treated to a baseball game compliments of the Casey Cares Organization. We had Diamond Club seats and had a nice buffet lunch in the diamond club before heading down to awesome seats. The Nats won 8 -0 and Emily kept rooting for the Dodgers... but they weren't playing! She's a Cali girl through and through.

That's it in a nutshell! I won't make any promises about when I'll update again since May and June tend to be crazy with end of the year school activities. Happy Spring!

Jill, Steve, Alex and Emily
