Zach's Memorial Marker

Tribute to Zachary

Taken from the funeral program Oct. 19, 2011 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Little Rock, AR.

Honor God. Love Dori. Live life to the full. With the time he had been given Zach did all he could to fulfill these goals and then some.

Zach was born April 8th in Miller Co. AR, the oldest of five children by Steve and Becky. Growing up in rural AR, he developed a great love for the outdoors and hunting. But Zach also had the heart of a scholar. He was a lover of literature (a love developed at home and Veritas Academy in Texarkana), a 2007 graduate of Texas A & M Univ. Texarkana, and author of several scientific articles.

Zach however is remembered most for his two great loves. The greatest is his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, a light in many days that would have otherwise been too dark to bear. The second great love is his wife, Dori. The two married in 2008 and walked the past three years together even traveling to her native counrty of Albania for a visit. They made their home in Little Rock, AR and their church Covenant Presbystrian.

In July 31, 2004, Zach was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer (desmoplastic small round cell tumor) that would eventually end his life on Oct. 14, 2011. But Zach did not want cancer to define his life, and he lived the next seven years trying, despite the endless tests and treatments to do just that.

Honoring God. Loving Dori. Living life to the full. The marks of a life well lived. The legacy of Zachary David Ramsey.

As hard as the day was Wednesday, there were so many blessings throughout the day. The wealth of family and friends that came to remember Zach was overwhelming. Their tears and laughter were a comforting balm. The words spoken at the funeral service honored well the man I have loved since before he was brought into this world. Thank you all for your words of comfort and encouragement.

I will keep this web site open for a year and will close it down on Oct. 14, 2012. I don't know how often I will post anything, but I will check for your kind words often.

We have been so blessed by your prayers and support. On behalf of the whole Ramsey family...Thank you.
