Zach's Page
"But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand." Psalm 31:14
This web site is designed to keep you informed and Zach encouraged as he goes through his battle with Desmoplastic Round Small Cell Tumor cancer. This is a rare and very aggressive cancer. It is estimated that only 20 people are diagnosed with this cancer yearly.
On July 31, 2004 Zach was diagnosed with DSRCT. After 2 years of chemo therapy, surgery, radiation, and recovery Zach resumed his life, graduated from Texas A & M, and moved to Little Rock.
On June 4, 2009, Zach learned that his cancer was back. Just as before he is willing to face this head on, only this time he has a wonderful 2nd mate to weather the storms with him, Dori. They were married in 2008. They have faith that God works all things well. Thank you for sticking with us through this tempest. Your prayers are are greatly appreciated.
Journal
Thursday, July 2, 2009 8:49 AM CDT Steve, Emily (our expecting daughter!) and I had a nice visit with Zach and Dori yesterday. Steve helped Zach with some home repair jobs and I brought lasagna. Zach is doing well and we are glad to see it.
Zach will begin his next round of chemo next week Monday. Then he will go to Houston on July 15-16th to meet Dr. Anderson and his surgeon.
Once they are back from Houston we will leave for a two week camping trip to Wyoming. Zach, Dori, and our son Eli will get to stay a week with us. After which time they will have to go back to AR for his next round of chemo. Dori has never been to this part of the country, while Zach was born in Jackson and loves going up there. I am looking forward to being up there with them. It will make for wonderful memories and photos. Lots of photos, just to warn you two.
Steve, our son Caleb, and some other friends will then go backpacking for a week. While they are doing that, we (Myself, Jenifer, and her 2 kids, the wife and family of one of the backpackers) will continue to camp. I get exhausted just thinking about it all, but I am really looking forward to the trip.
Please continue to pray for Zach and our family. Each day is precious to us. We consider each of them a gift from God.
